dead car

well, i need to get this outta my system as being nice to everyone at work is just pissing me off! i flooded my car last night. literally, in the river that flooded our street. Here is my logic behind doing it. It has been raining since sunday night here, and last night was the worst as we're getting weather from cyclone emma. We went out to the shire last night to farewell tom - he's done a fab job for the town. Anyhow, travelling down my street there was a river from the rain, I got through fine. Then on the way home, I didn't judge the extra rain and bigger size of the river coming back home. I was in the car by myself and half way through the 'river' my car just went dead. It was pretty scary being my myself, cause the water just kept rising and each time a car went past the car was moving. I felt like I was gonna be washed away - but really it wasn't that bad. Anyhow Dave & Robbo came to rescue. They had to push me out in knee high water. Then my car wouldn't start so they had to push it up on the curb. Then Robbo's work partner dropped me off home. The weather kept me up all night as I was worried about how Claire was gonna get home as it was getting so bad - the wind and banging of bins/gates. So Dave picked me up this morning and we went to start my car. We tried jump starting it with my battery and then with his. No go. So I must have stuffed up the electrics some where in there. So I'm at the point now I'm hoping if I leave it a lot longer it'll dry out. But if not, well have to speak to Norm the local mechanic. And there's no point in feeling sorry for myself even though people keep saying a lot of people do it. Fingers crossed. So I'm pissed off and upset at myself at the moment for being so stupid and I wanna scream.

omg

I have received some really nice birthday presents over the last few days but nothing was as strange as was ez gave me. She bought me strip poker dice. I guess I should find someone to play them with. But I don't think I'll have much luck in Meekatharra.

It's raining here at the moment. It started Sunday night and hasn't stopped. It's absolutely gorgeous. And I'm stuck inside at work :( But I get to teach music - yay!

The Birthday Weekend

I have the best weekend in such a long time! It was my birthday on Friday and I don't feel old at all. It started out as a normal day at work, then I started getting birthday messages from family and best friends. I felt all gooey inside from each one. I even heard from people who I thought didn't know when my birthday was. Then we headed off to a pool party and the local pools. I now see my friend Alice in a whole new light. With a beer in her hand, she can get through this blow up obstacle course (in the pool) from start to finish. I know I sound like a may be a bit of an alcoholic, but I swear I'm not. It was just a really good night. Then after the pool party we headed onto the pub. I remember nearly falling off my chair and being caught by adam, then the chair hitting his foot. It was a pretty funny 3 second moment. The journey home was even better - I have this thing once drinking, I must power walk home. It's weird I know. I got up my drive-way, stubbed my toe. Then when I got inside I thought that I could walk from the bathroom to my bedroom without any lights on (it didn't occur to me that I usually do with sober) but I walked into the wall and stubbed my other toe. I don't think I'll do that again :P

Last night was awesome too! I love playing trivial pursuit, and I don't know many other people who get excited at the prospect of a quiz challenge (maybe that's the teacher in me). So one of the highschool teacher brought over the lastest edition. It was going off. But it was just nice mixing with the other teachers when there has been a riff between the two schools for so long. We were all being girly and screaming because there were HUGE crickets & grasshoppers jumping on us all night, but hell it was funny. Then we went for a drive around the town. We found a bobcat at stickman's place, and god bless lorrae. Lorrae got up on the bobcat and was sitting on the gear stick. I seriously wonder about her sometimes but we were all cracking up laughing. And whoever said that Meekatharra isn't all that fun. I've had some of the best times of my life up here. I'm gonna miss it when I leave at the end of the year. But then I'm just as lucky to be going back to family & friends who love me and move into my house. I can't wait to move! Woo hoo!

Day One

Here is my first blogg. I am excited about the idea of having a blogg and ang has inspired me to keep one going.
That's true, I am a music teacher in meekatharra. it's my last year here and i'm excited about coming home to family and friends in december. It is a real adventure being out here, travelling aroung the mid-west country side and seeing how the other half in WA live. it's amazing how they love their life away from everyone being isolated. but it's what you make it. if i had the chance to do this again, i def would and recommend to every single person i meet. But i think that's all i've got to say today, gtg food shopping *argg*
