trying to get over my cold/viral infection at the moment - wondering how i have brought it on myself cause i know i have. i'll keep thinking about that one.
gonna get some heavy flooding this week from cyclone glenda so the roads may be cut off for upto a week. better stock up on food. it's pretty scary thinking this could be worse than last time. they've upgraded it to a category 5. hopefully it doesn't kill/injure anyone up in the kimberley.
teacher's muster this weekend so there will be 120+ teachers in good old small meekatharra. how Claustrophobic! it'll be good though - civilisation! yay!
better go! got places to see and people to do :P

good kharma

Alice and i decided that our trip would be all about good kharma.

We arrived in Gero on thursday afternoon and the fun began. We checked into the hotel and then went to a book cafe where we took it in turns to read affirmation cards. It's all about being in touch with the "leaping salmon" (understanding your roots) and "the ripples" (only send out good ones as they always comes back). Also we were sharing all the experiences with our 5 senses, being aware of our spiritual awakenings! haha lol. went out to dinner that night and took pictures of ourselves feeding each other and drinking wine. and i guess it may sound like we're in love. we could be. just joking, we love mucking around.

then we did the girly thing, cleansed our poors, put hot towels on our faces and putting on mud masks. we've got photos everywhere. but alice isn't back yet so i'll get them up when i can.

on friday morning we went to the beach and al has been teaching me how to surf. its so much fun and i can't wait to go again. but there didn't seem to be a lot of waves around in gero this weekend. then we had our astronomy workshop for the rest of the weekend. it was pretty cool - learnt lots of new things, got to go out to a farm and look through telescopes in the evening. then went to the beach again on sunday afternoon. got a good tan and burnt in a couple of spots where i missed the suncscreen. oops! and now i'm back! i can't wait to sleep in my own bed.

oh, and the adam thing, i've done a lot of thinking and i only want to be friends as he is an awesome fun guy. and i'm feel a lot happier about my decision! woo!

rejected

I feel like the biggest school kid loser this morning.
Everyone is trying to set me up with Adam and I have gotten caught up in the excitement of it all. Don't get me wrong though, I like Adam and he's heaps of fun to hang around with.
But get this, I got rejected 4 times last night (Kellys says this is his way of playing hard to get)

1. he came over to talk to me for the second time at the table, then left and said that i was boring

2. i poked him in the side and he told me not to snuggle up to him

3. i offered to by him a drink before he left, he said no

4. then as he was leaving i asked him to stay longer, i got a long look and then he said he was going home.

boys, i'm over them. and yes, i am feeling sorry for myself. but it's gonna be ok cause i'll deal with it because it is what it is, and it's not what it's not. and that's ok. but actually i do remember standing outside in the fresh air for a while last night (feeling a bit seedy) and then adam came outside so i freaked out and when inside. oh my god. what a loser!

and plus! i'm going to geraldton this morning and coming back on monday. so alice and i are gonna go surfing (lol she's gonna teach me) and go and check out the night life. So i guess you'll hear from me when i get back. mwuah!

Mad Hatter's Dinner Party

What a party! The theme of this party was to make a weird arse hat. We had curry for dinner and there was lots of fun. Naomi nicknames Alice "Tornado Tasmania" as she was knocking over everything on Saturday night. The girls made different types of curries for dinner.

After having 2 wines before dinner I was cadbury! So Naomi took me to go and lay down on her bed and said she was going to come back to get me in 5. However, I felt, at the time I would be more comfortable on the cooler floor. So when Naomi came back in to find me, she couldn't. So then that sent everyone out on a search party. How embarassing. When I got my head around it all, I went into the kitchen but was too embarassed to got out, so I grabbed my phone and went into the lounge. Then I started messaging everyone that I was still at the party. Poor Claire, she even went home to find me :P Then Dave and Ez found me in the lounge room - they were a little freaked out as I wasn't in their 5 minutes prior.

Later on in the night I went up to Joe, Lorrae's partner. He had cherries on top of his hat. All I can remember at this point (and it was too late stop it from coming out) was asking Joe if I could pop his cherry. The district highschool girls were so shocked, and I was so drunk that I couldn't stop giggling.

So that was the night of the mad hatter's dinner party. Can't wait for the next one :P

(oops! and i forget to add, the chick in the somberro hat is our registrar kelly. we attached condoms to her hat hahahah)

day four...a new start

a promise lives within you now...

It's time to stop breaking promises to myself, and as soon as I have seen things from this perspective looking after myself doesn't seem to be such a challenge. I'm proud of myself so far!

meeka riot

During this weekend there was a funeral service for an aborignal elder, so naturally there were lots of aboriginals in town. On Saturday night only two cops were put on duty. There were hundreds of them in the main street when the riot broke out at the Meekatharra Hotel. The two cops were trying to control them, but sadly they have both been bashed and are in Perth. Shane is only new to town - he had his eye socket broken and his front teeth kicked in. Chris is such a lovely person - they had her on the floor stomping on her head. She now has a broken jaw and nose. It makes me so sad to think that she always does the right thing by these people and the bastards have turned around and done this. This is more bad publicity that the town doesn't need. It's a good little town and we lose out on teachers and other government workers who don't want to come here. But there was one local aborigine that jumped over the top of Chris trying to protect her. There is always hope and kindness in people.

So I'm gonna organise a couple of cards to be signed by school of the air and the district highschool to send over to the police station. I guess that's the least we can do.

wet

Well "club scrub" didn't go ahead but Jai had a party around his house last night. We got out the water pistols (oh it brings back fond memories) and had a water fight. Phil got me in the eye ball twice so I let him have it. Then Jai brings out the fire extinguisher. My god it was a good night. Then nearly everyone got chucked in the pool and Dave found a canoe from somewhere and was trying to use it. Then Dave and Alice decided to jump on the next door neighbour's roof and climb a tree. Kids! :P Lorrae was trying to get me to sleep with Adam which was a bit scary. But Adam thought it would be funny to come out of the pool and wet him with his body. What a charming friend. Nah, it was a great night! I'm gonna miss this place.

nicknames

I have had a few nicknames in my lifetime so far. There was "carls" in highschool, ang calls me "wicky wicky wack" (just look at my last name), "carly barly" by ben and "skid" from my sister (I call her that too, it's a really close relationship).

The lastest nickname made up my Alice was Carly Bucket (as in Charlie Bucket from Charlie and the chocolate factory). Then the last few days it has shortened to just bucket. But it doesn't end there.... at the pub last night Alice changed it to bucket fucket, then Naomi went one step further and changed it to buck fuck and if you used your imagination you know what it sounds like. So that is my meekatharra nickname this week.

Looking forward to club scrub! Can't get outta town at the moment as the roads are shut from all the rain we have had so I can't come down to Perth for the long weekend :(

The Meeka Gang

aka "The Meeka Gang"

Ok, here we all are at a party where the theme was "wear what you wouldn't wear in public". There were worse people there than us. Very scary. From the left we have Narelle, Ez, Alice, Naomi (yes they're dreddies), mwa and Claire. Please don't ask what Claire and I were doing in that photo. You don't wanna know.

The Aftermath

Well things don't ever seem so bad the next day. And Bhodi, I'm not in a hill billy town. We may be behind the times but it's all good :P Yes I did try to start it when it was in the water. I'm a chick. I don't know these things.

Anyway my car went to the doctor's yesterday. When I told Norm what had happened to my car he looked like he was gonna cry. But they let all the water out and had to put in new oil. I had a creek still running in my back seat but that's slowly subsiding and I have wet carpet smell *phew*

And there are lots of rumours going around town that my friends here are starting. Many include themselves and aparently I'm going out with Adam. He's great, never been out but things are going great between us lol. Whatever.

Club srcub is on this weekend in town. Jai's hired the Elder's shed (it's not hill billy) and he's got a disco ball. It's gonna be our special country night club. Should be a fun long weekend. I think they're hoping to start drinking at 8am on Saturday morning. They're bloody keen. You can count me out. I might start at a more reasonable hour.

Alice, Naomi & Claire organised a suprise dinner for me last night coz I was upset and angry. I have some great friends here in Meekatharra. It was a nice thought and I had a great night.

It's only 6 weeks til I'm home again. I'm missing everyone like crazy and I can't wait to see you all again. I'm gonna try and put in a picture of these people I keep talking about so you can get a better idea. That'll take me another afternoon to find.

Speak to you all soon! Bhodi, did you get my email?
